Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman on Sunday celebrated Omani Industry Day, observed annually on February 9, under the theme “From Oman to the World… Competitive Industry and a Global Vision.”

The event highlights the importance of the industrial sector as a key pillar of economic diversification and sustainable development, in line with Oman Vision 2040, and underscores efforts to enhance the sector’s competitiveness locally and globally.

Speaking on the occasion, the Director-General of Industry at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion said that the contribution of manufacturing industries to the GDP reached approximately RO 3.879 billion by the end of 2025, registering a growth rate of 7.2 per cent. He noted that foreign investment in the industrial sector increased to RO 3.49 billion, reflecting a rise of 24.6 per cent, which demonstrates growing investor confidence in Oman’s industrial environment.

He added that the ministry continues to implement policies and initiatives aimed at strengthening the industrial base, improving productivity and supporting value-added industries, while creating an attractive investment climate for local and foreign investors.

The celebration witnessed the signing of a number of programmes, agreements and strategic initiatives designed to support industrial growth and expand partnerships with the private sector. The event also marked the launch of the first phase of the Industrial Observatory, which will provide data-driven insights to support decision-making, as well as the EtImad platform for professional classification in the industrial sector.

These initiatives are intended to enhance efficiency and competitiveness across industrial activities, promote innovation, and encourage the adoption of advanced technologies in production processes, contributing to sustainable industrial development in the Sultanate.
