MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Azerbaijan discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the parliamentary and legislative fields.
This took place during separate meetings held by Shaikh Abdulmalik bin Abdullah al Khalili, Chairman of the State Council, and Khalid bin Hilal al Maawali, Chairman of Majlis Ash’shura, with Prof Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and her accompanying delegation.
During the meetings, the two sides emphasised the importance of parliamentary relations, noting that these relations keep pace with the growing ties between the two nations under the keenness of their leaderships to consolidate cooperation in various fields.
The sessions also reviewed ways to develop existing cooperation between the two sides and included an exchange of views on several regional and international issues of common interest.
For her part, the Speaker of the Milli Majlis praised the development of bilateral relations and the shared visions that unite the two friendly countries, which contribute to achieving development and prosperity in the economic, cultural, tourism and legislative sectors. She further emphasised the ongoing efforts to increase mutual investments between the two countries.
Later, Khalid bin Hilal al Maawali, Chairman of Majlis Ash’shura, held an official session of talks with Prof Sahiba Gafarova.
During the session, both sides emphasised the importance of strengthening relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Azerbaijan across the economic, cultural, tourism and legislative sectors.
They also explored ways to enhance coordination and consultation between the two councils to serve the common interests of both countries in various development fields, in addition to discussing mechanisms for bolstering legislative cooperation through the exchange of expertise and bilateral visits. - ONA
