Muscat: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed the Sultanate of Oman’s welcome for the efforts led by US President Donald Trump to consolidate the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and implement the peace plan adopted by the United Nations Security Council under Resolution 2803.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the ministry said the plan supports the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state, in accordance with relevant international legitimacy resolutions and Security Council decisions.
The ministry stressed the importance of setting out a clear roadmap, with defined parameters and a time-bound programme, to implement the two-state solution. It noted that such steps would help entrench the foundations of security and stability in the region and facilitate a transition towards sustainable peaceful coexistence.
The statement also highlighted the need to move towards a new phase focused on reconstruction and prosperous economic development, contributing to long-term peace and stability in the region.
