Within the cool, starlit night at the Muscat Club, nestled between the Al Wadi Al Kabir mountains, the air warmed to the stomping rhythm of Indian singer Yumna Ajin, whose spellbinding performance headlined Chandrika Vasantham — The Spring of the Crescent — last week.

Yumna captured the audience’s hearts with her melodious vocals, opening with the evocative “Ya Aali, Reham Wali...”, before taking listeners on a musical journey that blended pop, classical, bhajans, Bollywood, folk, ghazal and Sufi influences. Singing effortlessly in English, Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam, she drew rousing applause from a packed stadium.

One of the evening’s highlights was her seamless Qawwali–Hindi–Malayalam mega mix, which had the crowd crooning along as the concert rolled into midnight, creating an unforgettable atmosphere for music lovers in the city.

With over 700 stage shows worldwide, Yumna is no stranger to big audiences. Her musical journey includes appearances on reality shows such as Indian Idol Junior and Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L’il Champs, with her selection as one of the top ten finalists on Indian Idol Junior standing out as a major milestone.

Prominent singers Shafi Kollam and Rehna expressed their delight at being part of the evening, sharing the stage with veteran Mappilapattu performers. Emerging stars Shweta Ashok and Nikesh Millennium, who have already made waves in the industry, also delivered electrifying performances that kept the energy high at the Al Wadi Al Kabir Stadium.

Adding to the festive spirit were Shafeel Kannur and Alia Abdul Razak, who brought Chandrika’s vision alive for its readers and viewers in Oman, ensuring a fun-filled spring celebration for the thousands who stayed until midnight to soak in the music and magic.
