

Muscat: Several vital projects are expected to be inaugurated in 2026, including the dualization of Al Farooq Road and the paving of roads in Wilayat Muqshin in the Dhofar Governorate.
The 2026 Budget focuses on the completion of several important road projects that are vital to the tourism, logistics, and other economic sectors of the Sultanate of Oman. An amount of RO2.7 billion was allocated for the implementation of about 2,525 kilometers of main and internal roads across governorates. i
The Minister of Transport and Communication and Information and Technology (MTCIT), recently told the Observer that most of the mega road projects are progressing well as per the timeline.
The work on Al Mughsail Bridge and the paving of the Seih Al Khairat–Al Shisr Road in Dhofar Governorate is also expected to be completed this year.
According to the ministry, the roads to be opened in the Dhofar governorate include the dualization of Sultan Taimur Road, the dualization of Al Farooq Road, the paving of roads in Wilayat Muqshin, Harweeb–Al Mazunah–Maiten, Al Mughsail Road, and the bridge project and paving of the Seih Al Khairat–Al Shisr Road.
Al Mughsail Road and Bridge project includes the setting up of a 630-metre concrete bridge on 20 columns and two side pillars at a height of 13 metres, with 6 decorative arches (35.9 to 45.9 metres).
This is in addition to parking spaces on both sides of the road, a streamlined, lighted walkway, and a ground crossing giving access to tourist sites.
It has been designed according to high-quality specifications that ensure continuous traffic movement in all weather conditions.
