MTCIT opens bids for key road projects in Oman

The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTCIT) opened bids for key road projects in the governorate has last week, which saw the participation of several big companies.

These projects include the upgrading of the Sinaw-Mahut-Al Duqm road (part 4) in the Al Wusta governorate. 

Two options were given to the contractors for the 54km road project, and it was mandatory to submit bids for both possibilities. 


The option was for a single Road length of 50 KM (all weather grade) for the construction and design of one roundabout, one T-Junction type A (measured work), while the second option is for a single road length of 50 KM (fair weather grade) for construction and design (lump sum).

In all weather, the road pavement should be negotiable during all weather, while in fair weather,  traffic may be affected during heavy rains and flowing wadis.

The second project is the Sinaw-Mahut-Al Duqm road (part 3) in North Sharqiyah and Al Wusta governorates.

Option 1 is for the single road length of 84 KM (all Weather Grade), for includes Construction and design of the Roundabout (measured work), while Option 2 is for a single road length of 84 KM (fair weather grade) includes construction and design (Lump Sum).

Five companies have submitted bids separately for the two projects, which were opened on September 11.

Remaining work at Turki Bin Said Road (section 1, package 1b and section 2, package 2A), bids for which were opened on September 10, and saw the participation of 4 companies.

The Scope includes construction, repair, reconstruction, rectification, modification, upgrading, and improvement of the existing Road facilities in different locations on Al Sharqiyah Expressway – Section I, Package 1B & Section II, Package 2A –(Turkey Bin Said Road).
