BEIJING: Oman is deepening industrial cooperation with China’s Tsingshan Group to accelerate the localisation of green steel and downstream industries, in line with Industrial Strategy 2040.

Dr Saleh bin Said Masan, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion for Commerce and Industry, led a field visit to Tsingshan’s industrial complexes in China to activate a cooperation programme signed in October 2025 and fast-track plans for Oman’s first integrated green steel project.

The visit included tours of Tsingshan’s lithium battery and energy storage facilities, showcasing advanced smart production lines supplying global renewable energy markets. The focus underscores Oman’s push to localise clean energy supply chains, with battery technology seen as critical to green hydrogen development, grid stability and the future electric vehicle ecosystem.

Dr Masan and his delegation held discussions with Tsingshan’s chairman and senior executives on the master plan for an integrated industrial city in Oman. Talks centred on accelerating development timelines and ensuring efficient export of steel and battery products to global markets at competitive costs.

Abdul Aziz bin Ahmed al Qasimi, Head of Capital-Intensive Industries at the Ministry, said the partnership represents a cornerstone of Industrial Strategy 2040, aimed at transferring and localising advanced technologies in green steel and energy storage. He noted that combining Oman’s green hydrogen potential with Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies would enable the production of high-value iron derivatives and smart energy solutions for aerospace and automotive industries.

The initiative also supports job creation, technology transfer and higher industrial contribution to GDP, while adhering to carbon-neutral goals.
