MUSCAT: Sultan Qaboos University has been ranked third in the 2025 Arab Ranking of Universities, an emerging ranking organised by the Association of Arab Universities, an affiliate of the League of Arab States, headquartered in Amman, Jordan.

This regional ranking specialises in evaluating Arab universities through governance-based mechanisms that rely on the systematic sorting of data and human inputs, which are classified automatically without human intervention. This approach enhances the credibility of the ranking among participating institutions and provides clear indicators of their academic, research and scientific standing.

This edition marks the third iteration of the Arab Ranking of Universities organised by the Association of Arab Universities. SQU participated for the first time and achieved third place among 236 Arab universities representing 20 Arab countries.
