Riyadh: Jasem Mohammed al Budaiwi, GCC Secretary-General has welcomed the agreement that signed in Muscat on Tuesday for the exchange of prisoners in Yemen.

Al Budaiwi commended the efforts of the Sultanate of Oman, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary General of the United Nations to Yemen and the International Committee of the Red Cross in reaching this agreement.

Al Budaiwi expressed the hope that this agreement would contribute to strengthening the march of peace and stability in the Republic of Yemen, alleviate the humanitarian suffering of the Yemeni people and build confidence among the parties concerned. He also hoped that the agreement would lead to a comprehensive and sustainable political solution that guarantees the Republic of Yemen's security, stability and unity and serves the aspirations of the people of Yemen for peace and prosperity.
