SUHAR: The General Directorate of Education in Al Batinah North took a proactive step by organising the third edition of the Education and Future Skills Forum, supervised by the Life Skills Unit.
The event brought together Life Skills teachers to spotlight pioneering initiatives that bridge classroom learning with real-world skills and national development goals.
The forum reaffirmed the Ministry of Education’s commitment to fostering innovative educational practices and equipping students with future-ready skills aligned with Oman’s long-term vision.
It saw 73 educational initiatives submitted by educators from across Al Batinah North, with 15 outstanding initiatives selected for presentation.
Five initiatives were showcased as interactive displays in the Initiatives Exhibition, while ten were presented as working papers, reflecting the diversity, creativity and quality of educational practices aimed at enhancing students’ life skills.
The main session, ‘Educational Initiatives and Future Skills: A Vision for Effective Science Education in Shaping the Future’, was delivered by Dr Diaa Al Din Motawea from the College of Education and Arts, Sohar University, and moderated by Badr al Abri.
The session highlighted the pivotal role of educational initiatives in developing teaching practices, fostering innovation, and integrating skills such as critical thinking and problem-solving.
The first working session covered identity, citizenship, entrepreneurship, and active learning, featuring presentations like ‘The Melody of Identity and Citizenship’ by Hajar al Ajmi, ‘Our Identity Through Our Culture’ by Khalid al Balushi, ‘Entrepreneurial Insights’ by Nawal al Washahi, and ‘The Triple Strategy for Active Learning’ by Mohammed al Shibli.
The second session focused on digital transformation and innovative learning tools, including presentations like ‘Life Skills Through a Digital Lens’ by Hassa al Dhufri, ‘The Heritage of the Ancestors’ by Maryam al Aisai, ‘Digitising Authenticity and Preserving Identity in 3D’ by Maryam al Maamari, and ‘My Company, My Idea’ by Asmaa al Zaabi.
The session concluded with Nadia al Muqbali presenting practical guidelines for programmes, applications and tools that support the educational process.
The forum concluded with an award ceremony for participants and the announcement of results, underscoring the importance of such platforms in exchanging educational expertise, supporting outstanding initiatives, and steering education towards future skills in line with the Ministry of Education and Oman’s national vision.
