

MUSCAT: Assigned by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, Dr Mohammed bin Said al Maamari, Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, will preside over the award ceremony of the 12th edition of the Sultan Qaboos Award for Culture, Arts, and Literature, on Wednesday.
The winners of were: the Assilah Forum Foundation in the field of private cultural institutions (Culture category), Essam Mohammed Said Darwish in the field of sculpture (Arts category), and Hikmat Al Sabbagh, also known as Yumna Al Eid, in the field of autobiography (Literature category).
The award ceremony included a speech by Habib bin Mohammed al Riyami, Chairman of the Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science, who delivered a speech in which he underscored the importance of the award, adding that the award’s wide participation from Arab countries is the result of its reputation and the broad vision for its future.
At the end of the award ceremony, the Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs (chief guest), announced the categories for the thirteenth edition of the Sultan Qaboos Award for Culture, Arts, and Literature, which will be dedicated for Omani citizens. The categories will be: Culture (Family and Childhood Studies in the Sultanate of Oman), Arts (Arabic Calligraphy), and Literature (Short Story).— ONA
