MUSCAT: The Omani Women’s Academy (OWA) participated in the Gulf Businesswomen Forum held in Doha, Qatar, organised by the Qatar Chamber, with the presence of leading entrepreneurs and decision-makers from across the GCC.
The Academy’s participation underscored its growing role in empowering Omani women and strengthening their contribution to the Gulf’s economic landscape. Through its presence, the Academy highlighted women-led innovation, exchanged expertise and explored partnerships with regional institutions supporting entrepreneurship.
Dr Fatma al Balushi, Chairperson of the Omani Women’s Academy, presented a working paper titled ‘The Role of Education and Capacity-Building in Enabling Gulf Women to Enter Modern Investment Sectors.’ She emphasised the value of leveraging Gulf experiences in empowerment programmes, business accelerators and innovation centres to help establish women-led startups with sustainable economic impact.
Dr Al Balushi also presented key national indicators, including a recent statistic from the National Centre for Statistics and Information showing that Omani women helm 33 per cent of entrepreneurial projects, reflecting strong institutional support and steady growth in women’s entrepreneurship across Oman.
Throughout the forum, the Academy positioned itself as a national model aligned with Oman Vision 2040, highlighting initiatives in women’s entrepreneurship, the digital economy, incubators and accelerators, professional development, and the Digital Community Ambassadors programme - strengthening Gulf integration and creating shared opportunities for women in diverse sectors.
At the conclusion, the Academy reaffirmed its commitment to expanding regional partnerships and developing high-impact programmes to support the future of Gulf women and enhance the sustainability of women-led enterprises in the region.
