1,712 students graduate from SQU

MUSCAT: The Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) held a graduation ceremony for the first cohort of the 36th batch under the auspices of Dr Abdullah bin Mohammed al Dr Abdullah bin Mohammed al Saidi, Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs, on Sunday.

The number of graduates of the 36th batch totaled 3,106 from various colleges and academic levels. A total of 1,712 students graduated from science colleges undergraduate programmes including 520 students who graduated from postgraduate programmes at a graduation ceremony held at the open-air theatre of the SQU campus on Sunday.

, delivered a speech in which he congratulated the graduates and their families. He added: “The years of study that our sons and daughters, the graduates of this batch, spent within the halls of the university were not merely an acquisition of knowledge, but a reshaping of their identities, a refinement of their visions, and a revelation of their energies and capabilities. Those who are here today to receive their degrees are celebrating the culmination of commendable effort which will be followed by a new phase full of contributions.”

The chief guest presented certificates to the 62 students who graduated with doctoral degrees from the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Agricultural and Marine Sciences, Science, Engineering, Education, Arts and Social Sciences, and Economics and Political Science. Then he presented certificates to 458 graduates who received their master’s degrees from the Colleges of Medicine and Health Sciences, Nursing, Agricultural and Marine Sciences, Science, Engineering, Law, Education, Arts and Social Sciences, and Economics and Political Science.

The chief guest then handed out certificates to the graduates with a bachelor’s degree. The total number of graduates from the College of Medicine and Health Sciences was 157 graduates, the College of Nursing (141 graduates), College of Agricultural and Marine Sciences (177 graduates).

Then, the chief guest handed out certificates to the graduates with a bachelor’s degree from the College of Engineering (337 graduates).
