

KAZAN: Rustam Minnikhanov, President of the Republic of Tatarstan, received Dr Mohammed bin Said al Maamari, Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, at the Presidential Palace, as part of his visit to the Republic of Tatarstan.
They discussed bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and the importance of advancing development and peace among peoples based on the values of knowledge, understanding and recognition. This comes within the framework of President Rustam Minnikhanov’s chairmanship of the Russia-Islamic World Strategic Vision Group which was established in 2006 with the aim of enhancing Russia’s partnerships with the Islamic world.
The two sides also discussed prospects for cooperation in the fields of endowments and religious affairs, including the care and training of religious human resources, promoting moderate religious discourse, exploring partnerships in endowment investments, and reviewing Omani expertise and opportunities in various fields such as the management of Zakat (Islamic alms), Haj (pilgrimage), mosques, Islamic institutions, among others.
The meeting was attended by Hamood bin Salim al Towaiya, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Russian Federation and non-resident to the Republic of Belarus, and some officials from both sides. — ONA
