Hamad bin Mohammed al Wahibi secured the highest share of acquisitions, with three of his camels, ‘Minsa’, ‘Adab’ and ‘Shawahen’, being purchased by the Royal Camel Corps (RCC) after winning the top spot in the first three rounds of the Valuation Rounds at Al Felaij Track on Monday.
‘Zafah’, owned by Saif bin Said al Wahibi, was also select for purchase after delivering a strong performance and finished runner-up in the first round.
‘Hamloulah’, owned by Ali bin Abdullah al Balushi, joined the acquired list by the RCC after claiming second position in the second round.
The five days race is being organised by the Oman Camel Racing Federation (OCRF) in cooperation with Royal Camel Crobs (RCC) as part of the fourth race of the 2025–26 camel racing season.
Strong performances marked the second day with 13 rounds at Al Felaij Track in the Wilayat of Barka, as the Hagayeg category, two years old, ran over a distance of 4 km. The event was launched on Sunday with 28 rounds for same category over 3 km.
Monday’s programme also featured races with human riders over 2 km, adding further excitement to the morning session.
The competitions will continue on November 18 with 15 rounds for the Lagaya category, three years old, over a distance of 5 km, during which the RCC will select the top three camels for purchase.
In addition, five rounds will be held for the Elythaa category, four years old, with the top two camels to be purchased by the RCC.
On November 19, the Elythaa category, four years old, will headline the programme with 13 rounds, including six rounds over 6 km and seven rounds over 5 km.
The final day on November 20 will feature six rounds for the Thanaya category, five years old, followed by six rounds for the Al Hawl category, six years and above, all contested over 6 km.
STANDOUT PERFORMER
The race also include qualifying some top camels to the final race, HM’s Cup, which will be held at the end of the race season.
The race witnessed strong participation from camel owners across the Sultanate of Oman, reflecting the high level of competitiveness. As cash prizes were awarded to the top ten finishers, while icons were presented to first-place winners in the main rounds across all categories.
Hamad bin Mohammed al Wahibi, standout performer of the second day after selling three camels to the Royal Camel Corps, expressed his gratitude for the strong results, saying:
“We thank God for this remarkable success. These camels are among our finest and most unique bloodlines, and today they performed at their absolute best. This race brings us great joy, especially with winning three icons. These camels have achieved notable victories in Oman and in the GCC, as and they are home-bred.”
He added his appreciation for the organisers, saying: “We extend our sincere thanks to the Royal Camel Corps for their continued support, and to the Oman Camel Racing Federation for the excellent organisation and transparency in the results.”
