

MUSCAT: Oman's total electricity production increased by 8.4% by the end of September 2025, reaching 41,164.9 gigawatt-hours (GWh), compared to 37,959.3 GWh during the same period in 2024.
Preliminary data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information also showed an 8.2% increase in net electricity production in Oman — which includes purchases by the Oman Power and Water Procurement Company and the Rural Areas Electricity Company — reaching 39,973.6 GWh by the end of September 2025, compared to 36,944.8 GWh at the end of September 2024.
On the other hand, total water production in Oman up to the end of September 2025 recorded a slight decrease of 0.6%, reaching approximately 387.702 million cubic metres, compared to 390.197 million cubic metres during the same period last year.
Muscat Governorate witnessed a decrease in water production of 11.2%, reaching 154.377 million cubic metres compared to 173.854 million cubic metres last year.
Meanwhile, water production in Dhofar Governorate increased by 3.8%, reaching 57.516 million cubic metres. Water production in the remaining governorates also increased by 9.3%, registering 175.808 million cubic metres compared to 160.919 million cubic metres up to the end of September 2024. — ONA
