

MUSCAT, NOV 16
‘Hayeltak’ owned by Roshod bin Khuwaiter al Maliki delivered the standout performance of the opening day at the Al Felaij Track in the Wilayat of Barka, recording the fastest time of 4:43.78 minutes in the first day of the fourth annual camel race.
The impressive victory came during the Hagayeg category, two years old, over a distance of 3 km, organised by the Oman Camel Racing Federation (OCRF) in cooperation with the Royal Camel Corps (RCC).
The opening day featured a total of 25 rounds, showcasing strong participation and intense competition among camel owners from various governorates across the Sultanate of Oman.
The five days race, until November 20, will show the selection of the top camel to purchase by the RCC, while on Mondy will select five top camels from Hagayeg category. On Tuesday will select five camels, three will be from Lagaya category and two camels from Elytha category.
In addition RCC will qualify some top camels to the final race, HM’s Cup, which will be held at the end of the race season.
The competitions will continue On November 17, by hosting 14 rounds, including 11 rounds for the Hagayeg category over 4 km, in addition to three rounds for human riders over 2 km.
November 18, featuring 15 rounds for the Lagaya category, three years old, over 5 km. On November 19, the Elythaa category, four years old, will headline the programme with 13 rounds, including six rounds over 6 km and seven rounds over 5 km.
The final day on November 20 will feature six rounds for the Thanaya category, five years old, followed by six rounds for the Al Hawl category, six years and above, all contested over 6 km.
