

MANAMA: Prince Salman bin Hamad al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain, on Monday received Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal al Busaidy, Minister of Interior, at the Cabinet headquarters in Manama.
During the meeting, the strong bilateral relations uniting the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Bahrain were reviewed, along with means to support and enhance them in various fields. The meeting also discussed a number of issues of mutual interest.
The meeting was attended on the Omani side by Maj Gen Abdullah bin Ali al Harthy, Assistant Inspector General of Police and Customs for Operations, and Sayyid Faisal bin Harib al Busaidy, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Kingdom of Bahrain. It was attended on the Bahraini side by Gen Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, and a number of officials from both sides.
Meanwhile, Sayyid Hamoud visited the Open Prisons Complex in the Kingdom of Bahrain. This came within the framework of the Interior Minister’s official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain. He was accompanied during the visit by Gen Shaikh Rashed bin Abdullah al Khalifa, Minister of Interior of Bahrain. Upon their arrival at the complex, they were received by a number of senior officials from the Bahraini Ministry of Interior.
At the beginning of the visit, the Minister of Interior listened to a comprehensive introductory briefing presented by the Open Prisons' management. The briefing covered the objectives of these correctional facilities and their role in rehabilitating inmates and preparing them for integration into society after the completion of their sentences.
The briefing included a presentation of the administration's initiatives in the fields of education, vocational training, and psychological and social rehabilitation, in addition to reviewing the procedures followed to ensure the rights of inmates and provide a humane correctional environment that adheres to the standards of justice and dignity, in line with humanitarian principles and best international practices in this field.
Following this, the Minister of Interior conducted a field tour of the administration's facilities, which included training workshops, education halls, and various service facilities.
Sayyid Hamoud lauded the advanced administrative organisation and quality programmes he witnessed, which reflect the great attention the Kingdom of Bahrain accords to developing the correctional work system. He pointed to the importance of continuing the exchange of visits and expertise to contribute to the advancement of the correctional work system and the efficiency of prison management, thereby serving mutual interests. — ONA
