MUSCAT: The ongoing International Childhood Conference and Exhibition, themed 'Prospects of Rehabilitation and Empowerment in the Care of Children with Disabilities in Light of Emerging Technologies', highlighted national efforts to raise awareness of childhood issues, especially the challenges faced by children with disabilities, while promoting their integration into society.

Throughout the conference, discussions will cover children’s rights, social inclusion, and policies supporting families and caregivers. Experts will explore how new technologies and innovations can contribute to rehabilitation and empowerment, enabling children with disabilities to live more independently and confidently.

The programme includes scientific sessions, workshops, and panel discussions with academics, researchers, and specialists from Oman and abroad. Representatives from Unicef, the Ministry of Social Development, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health, Sultan Qaboos University, and the National Human Rights Commission are among the participants.

The exhibition features local and international organisations providing services and products for children. It showcases educational, healthcare and rehabilitation solutions, along with interactive activities, training workshops and stage performances designed for young audiences.

Nada al Alawi, a conference participant and Director of the Omani Centre for Rehabilitation and Care, expressed her delight at participating in the 2nd International Childhood Conference and Exhibition.

“This is our first time taking part in the event. It was a successful participation, with strong attendance, and it left a truly good impact on us. This opportunity provided us with the chance to share our work and connect with the wider community," she told the Observer.

Asaad bin Khamis al Yarubi, another participant and Chief Executive Officer of Wisam Al Wadi Events Management, praised the International Childhood Conference and Exhibition as a wonderful initiative that emphasises the importance of children. He emphasised the significance of early care for children to help them shine and excel in the future.

Dr Zuhoor al Saleh, Principal at National Nursery Montessori, commended the conference for bringing together many centres and institutions serving children in Oman. She expressed hope for broader participation in the future, particularly with a larger pool of speakers to enrich discussions on key topics.
