MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Eritrea have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening trade and investment ties, as senior officials from both nations met in Muscat to explore new areas of collaboration.
Qais bin Mohammed al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, received Nasiruddin Mohammed Saleh, Eritrea’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, who is on a two-day official visit to the Sultanate of Oman. The visit includes meetings with key figures from the public and private sectors to strengthen bilateral economic relations.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed existing cooperation in trade, industry, and investment, while discussing potential partnerships in high-growth sectors such as mining, manufacturing, tourism, food security and logistics. They also examined ways to boost trade exchanges and promote stronger ties between private sector entities in both countries.
Talks extended to collaboration in energy, minerals, livestock and fisheries, alongside discussions on opening direct banking channels to facilitate smoother trade and imports. Both ministers also supported the idea of organising an Omani-Eritrean Business Forum to connect entrepreneurs and investors and explore joint ventures in productive industries.
Al Yousef described the visit as an important step towards broadening economic cooperation between Oman and Eritrea in line with Oman Vision 2040. He emphasised that the Ministry continues to build economic bridges with African nations to diversify markets and attract high-quality investments.
During his stay, Minister Saleh will meet officials from various Omani institutions and private companies to exchange expertise in improving the business environment, advancing industrial investment; and developing logistics and export capabilities. — ONA
