Three critical among 42 injured in Khabourah bus collision

Muscat: Three people sustained critical injuries, ten were moderately injured, and twenty-nine suffered light injuries in a collision involving two buses in the Wilayat of al Khabourah on Wednesday.

The Ministry of Health, represented by the Emergency and Crisis Management Department at the Directorate General of Health Services in North al Batinah, activated the medical response and public health sector to deal with the incident.

Medical teams were immediately dispatched to the site to provide first aid and transfer the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment. The ministry confirmed that all necessary medical support was provided and extended wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured.

Worthy to note that the Sultanate of Oman reported 586 deaths and 1,936 injuries from 1,854 accidents in 2024, compared to 595 accidents and 2,129 injuries from 2,040 accidents in 2023 and 532 deaths and 2080 injuries from 2040 accidents in 2022.

Major causes for deaths from accidents are Speed, negligence, bad behaviour, fatigue, overtaking, intoxication, not leaving a safe distance, and defects in vehicles.
