OVA all set for Arab Beach Volleyball Championships in Muscat

MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by Oman Volleyball Association (OVA), is all set to begin the action of 30th edition of Arab Men’s and 20th edition of Arab Women’s Beach Volleyball Championships in Muscat on Wednesday. The event will run until Saturday at the sand court of Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher.


The four days event will feature participation of eight teams including: Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Sudan and hosts Sultanate of Oman.


The tournament will feature a total of 20 teams including 12 men’s teams and eight women’s teams. Oman team will take part in men’s and women’s competitions with two teams each. All matches will be conducted under international standards with advanced facilities and technical preparations ensuring a world-class event. The thrilling competition and high-level sporting action will begin on Wednesday starting from 4 pm and will run until 10 pm.


Oman men’s team completed their preparations as Oman Team 1 will comprise Ahmed al Hosni and Hood al Jalboubi while the Oman Team 2 will be featured by Yousef al Abri and Nooh al Jalboubi. Both the pairs are playing as one team for the first time.

Oman’s well known stars including Mazin al Hashmi and Haitham al Shraiqi will not take part in the event due to some special reasons. Mazin suffered an injury and did a surgery recently and he is under medical treatment course. Oman men’s team will be under the technical supervision of coach Badar al Subhi while Oman women’s team will be under coach Azhar al Bahrani. Oman women's team will represented by Maryam al Oraimi and Liqa al Hosni in Team 1 while Furat al Balushi and Al Shaima al Zadjali form Team 2.


Aisha al Jabri, Board Member and Acting Secretary General of OVA, said this championship is a testament to Oman’s growing reputation as a capable and welcoming host for major sporting events. “This event reflects our commitment to promoting beach sports and positioning Oman as a prime destination for regional and international tournaments. Our national teams have achieved remarkable results in recent years, including first-place finishes in Doha and Amman. The Arab Volleyball Federation’s trust in Oman is built on these consistent performances and our readiness to deliver at the highest level,” she ended.


OVA Chairman Eng Ibrahim al Maqbali met the main umpiring committee in presence of all the members. The meeting discussed the latest preparations of the committee and umpires' readiness for officiating the tournament matches.
