MUSCAT, OCT 10

Oman Youth Handball League reaches its decisive stage on Friday with two exciting semifinal first-leg encounters, Muscat will face Nizwa at 3:30 pm at the Nizwa Sports Complex, while Seeb host Ahli Sidab at 6 pm in what promises to be a day of intense competition.

In the first semifinal, defending champions Muscat aim to continue their title defence with a strong performance, relying on their talented squad and consistent form. Meanwhile, Nizwa will seek to capitalise on home advantage and passionate crowd support to challenge the champions.

Nizwa’s head coach, Ahmed Ambusaidi, said the team has prepared well despite the absence of several players due to academic commitments. Ambusaidi noted, “we are determined to deliver a strong performance that reflects Nizwa’s spirit and we aim to secure a positive result on home soil.”

In the other semifinal, Seeb take on Ahli Sidab in a balanced and unpredictable encounter. Seeb’s head coach, Ali al Balushi, expects a highly competitive match.

“The team that stays composed and avoids mistakes will have the upper hand.”

He added that while Seeb face some injury concerns, the squad remains fully prepared for the challenge.

The four teams advanced to the semifinals after finishing in the top two positions in their respective groups. Seeb topped Group A with six points, followed by Nizwa with four, while Muscat led Group B with a perfect record six points, joined by Ahli Sidab in second place with four.

According to the tournament format, the semifinals will be played over two legs, with the aggregate winners advancing to the championship final, scheduled later this month.
