MUSCAT: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Foreign Minister, held a phone call with Dr Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
Sayyid Badr expressed the sincere congratulations of the Sultanate of Oman to the Arab Republic of Egypt on the occasion of the election of Dr Khaled El Enany as Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco), the first Arab to assume this high international position.
He affirmed that this success reflects the distinguished scientific and cultural standing of Egypt and its pioneering role in supporting dialogue, peace, and promoting the values of tolerance and understanding among nations.
For his part, the Egyptian Minister expressed his deep thanks and appreciation to the Sultanate of Oman for its support of the Egyptian candidate. He commended Oman's honourable stances and constant backing for Egypt in various regional and international forums, emphasising the ancient and strong fraternal relations that bind the two countries. — ONA
