Muscat: In a continued diplomatic push to help de-escalate rising regional tensions, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi, Foreign Minister, held a series of telephone calls with his counterparts from across the region and around the world.

The calls come amid mounting international concern following Israel’s direct military strikes on Iranian territory in the early hours of Friday, an act that has significantly heightened the threat of broader conflict.

During these conversations, Sayyid Badr stressed the urgent need to halt the aggression and deter the aggressor through peaceful and lawful means, in accordance with the principles of international law and justice. He warned of the grave humanitarian and security consequences that could arise from continued hostilities, including bloodshed, destruction, and instability. He further emphasised the importance of collective regional and international efforts to uphold peace and protect the supreme interests of the region and its peoples.

The diplomatic outreach is part of the Sultanate of Oman’s broader stance against the recent escalation.

Earlier, the Foreign Ministry issued a statement strongly condemning what it described as a “heinous military aggression” by Israel against the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran, targeting sovereign facilities and resulting in casualties.

The statement denounced the attack as a dangerous and reckless provocation, a flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter and the tenets of international law. It warned that such aggressive conduct undermines the foundations of regional stability and peace.

The ministry also noted that the assault comes at a critical time, coinciding with intensified international efforts to resume nuclear negotiations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States. The timing, it stated, reveals a deliberate intent to derail the diplomatic process and fuel a wider conflict—one that could have serious consequences for both regional and global peace.
