Muscat: Oman will be the venue for 17 institutions simulating Moon/Mars missions on five continents (Africa, America, Asia, Australia, and Europe) to emulate the human presence on the Moon or Mars, involving more than 200 scientists from 25 countries.

According to a statement from Austrian Space Forum, starting October 13 to 26,2025, the 17 habitats will enter into a unique research collaboration and conduct numerous experiments.

Mission Coordination will be provided by the Austrian Space Forum in Vienna, Austria.

The countries involved are Kenya, the USA (three institutions), Brazil, Armenia, India, Jordan (2 institutions), Oman, Australia, Austria, France, Poland, Portugal, and the Netherlands.

In Oman, the Space Habitat Center, Zone 88, is a scientific and economic zone dedicated to space industries and advanced technologies.

It is located in the Special Economic Zone.

It may be noted that the Oman analog mission referred to as AMADEE-18 was a Mars expedition simulation conducted in the Dhofar Governorate in February 2018 by the Austrian Space Forum (OeWF) in cooperation with the Oman Astronomical Society.

The mission involved a field crew conducting experiments in a Mars-like desert environment across multiple disciplines, including astrobiology, engineering, and planetary science, to prepare for a future human Mars mission
