Trade balance surplus exceeds RO 3.5 billion

MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman's trade balance recorded a surplus of RO 3.555 billion by the end of July 2025, compared to a surplus of RO 5.432 billion during the same period in 2024, a decrease of 34.6 per cent.


Preliminary statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showed that the total value of merchandise exports reached RO 13.476 billion by the end of July 2025, a decrease of 9.2 per cent compared to the same period in 2024, which amounted to RO 14.839 billion.


Statistics indicated that this decline was primarily attributed to a 17 per cent decline in Oman's oil and gas exports, reaching RO 8.582 billion by the end of July, compared to RO 10.344 billion during the same period in 2024.


Statistics also showed that Oman's non-oil commodity exports achieved a remarkable growth of 11.3 per cent, reaching RO 3.890 billion by the end of July 2025, compared to RO 3.497 billion during the same period in 2024.


Re-exports also registered a slight increase of 0.5 per cent by the end of July 2025, reaching RO 1.04 billion, compared to RO 999 million during the same period in 2024.


Statistics showed that the total value of commodity imports to the Sultanate of Oman rose to RO 9.921 billion by the end of July 2025, compared to RO 9.407 billion during the same period in 2024, registering a 5.5 per cent increase.


On the other hand, the United Arab Emirates topped trade in non-oil exports by the end of July 2025, with exports to it amounting to RO 698 million, achieving a growth of 27.8 per cent compared to the end of July 2024. It also topped the list of countries to which the Sultanate of Oman re-exported goods, with a value of RO 394 million and the list of countries exporting to the Sultanate of Oman, with imports from them amounting to RO 2.338 billion.


Saudi Arabia ranked second among Oman's non-oil exports, with a value of RO 653 million, followed by India with RO 398 million. In terms of re-exports, Iran ranked second with a value of RO 179 million, followed by Saudi Arabia with RO 80 million.


As for the countries exporting to the Sultanate of Oman, China ranked second with imports worth RO 1.05 billion, followed by the State of Kuwait with a value of RO 914 million. — ONA
