

Muscat: The Bodhi Life Skills karate team, representing Oman, is slated to compete in the Dubai World Karate Tournament, scheduled for October 4, and will take place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The team will showcase their expertise in both kumite (sparring) and kata (forms) disciplines, facing competitors from numerous countries worldwide. The tournament is recognised as a significant event on the global karate calendar, attracting top martial artists.
The team includes Renshi G Kumar, 6th Dan Black Belt, Okinawa, Japan, Head Coach, Gopeshkrithik Parthasarathy, Darshan Srinivas. Athiksh Parthasarathi, Avanish Parthasarathi, Pranav V Nair, Rudra Vishal Sutar and Gunit Siddharth Chaturvedi, all of whom are students.
Under the expert guidance and training of Renshi G Kumar, the athletes have developed the discipline and skills necessary to compete at an international level. "All the participants are currently pursuing their education at Indian School Muscat except Gunit who is studying in Indian School Ghubrah International where they successfully balance academic excellence with a deep commitment to martial arts," Kumar said.
In addition to coaching the team, Kumar will also be participating in the tournament alongside masters in his own competitive category, showcasing his expertise and continuing to lead by example.
“It’s a proud moment for our team to represent Oman and compete on such a prestigious international platform. These young athletes have shown incredible dedication, and we are confident they will carry the spirit of Bodhi Life Skills with honor and determination,” Kumar said.
Participation in the Dubai World Karate Tournament marks a significant milestone for Bodhi Life Skills, reflecting the academy’s growing prominence in the regional and international martial arts scene. The experience will offer the students not only a chance to test their skills but also to learn, grow, and build friendships through sport.
In a separate event, a group of Silambam practitioners also from Bodhi Life Skills, Muscat, is preparing to represent Oman at the prestigious Qatar World Silambam Tournament 2025, scheduled for October 3rd in Doha.
The team members — Akila, Sushmitha, Selvi, Kanimozhi, Shaswath, Vihashini, and Dekshitha — have trained rigorously under the expert guidance of their coach, Renshi G Kumar. They will compete in Individual events, Combat (Sparring), and Group Performance categories.
Silambam, a traditional Indian martial art known for its weapon-based techniques and dynamic movements, is gaining popularity worldwide. The tournament will feature top competitors from over other countries.
Kumar expressed confidence in the team, saying, “Our athletes have shown great dedication and discipline. We are proud to represent Bodhi Life Skills and Oman on this global platform.” This participation marks an important milestone for Bodhi Life Skills and highlights Oman’s growing presence in international martial arts competitions.
