

NAKHAL: A meeting of the Committee for the Development of Wakan Village in the Wilayat of Nakhal, Al Batinah South Governorate, was held on Tuesday to discuss final details related to the project of the road leading to the village and to review plans for a tourist cable car system.
The meeting was chaired by Eng Masoud bin Said al Hashmi, Governor of Al Batinah South, in the presence of Shaikh Khalifa bin Saleh al Busaidy, and a number of officials from various government entities in the governorate.
Wakan Village has received Royal directives for its development as a tourist destination due to its natural beauty, elevated location and distinguished tourism status, making it a prominent year-round attraction for visitors.
The meeting reviewed engineering designs and technical specifications proposed for the new road leading to the village, in addition to discussing developmental aspects and supporting services. These improvements are expected to facilitate visitor access and enhance mountain tourism infrastructure in the region.
Discussions also covered studies related to the cable car project and implementation mechanisms aimed at providing a comprehensive and unique tourism experience while preserving the village’s captivating mountainous landscape.
This project is part of broader efforts by Al Batinah South Governorate to develop infrastructure and promote tourism assets across its wilayats, in alignment with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040, which aims to diversify national income sources and support sustainable local development. - ONA
