SALALAH: The General Command of the Royal Oman Police (ROP) on Sunday provided the Dhofar Governorate Police Command with personnel, vehicles, and specialised technical equipment as the governorate prepares for the 2025 Khareef Dhofar Season. The aim is to reinforce field operations and enhance security and police services provided to visitors during the tourist season.
The ROP has set up security checkpoints at several locations and provided them with direct contact numbers to facilitate access for visitors and ensure security coverage of all areas along the road. Mounted patrols will cover tourist sites that are difficult to access by vehicle thus enhancing police presence to ensure safety and security.
Coast Guard Police rescue teams will be stationed on the beaches of Dhofar Governorate and near water springs to ensure a rapid response to drowning incidents and provide advice and guidance to visitors.
In addition, the Police Aviation will provide support in cases that require the use of helicopters such as search and rescue operations. It will also provide air ambulance services.
The Royal Oman Police affirms its readiness to handle all events at various venues of Khareef Dhofar season. ROP will also facilitate passport and visa procedures, organise movement at land and customs ports and increase police presence at tourist sites and event venues.
The Royal Oman Police calls on all festival-goers to adhere to laws and regulations, cooperate with police officers and call the emergency number 9999 in emergency cases. — ONA
