Muscat: The Ministry of Labour (MoL) announced on Sunday that starting from August 1, 2025, all engineers working in the Sultanate of Oman, including those currently employed and those to be appointed in the future, must obtain a professional accreditation certificate from the Oman Society of Engineers (OSE) in order to receive or renew a work permit.
According to MoL, the issuance or renewal of work permits for engineers will be conditional upon presenting a valid professional classification certificate issued by the Sector Skills Unit (SSU) for engineering .
Meanwhile, the statement said all engineers must therefore submit an application to OSE to obtain the required certificate before approaching the ministry for any work-related permits.
The ministry clarified that no work permits will be granted to engineers after the specified date without submission of this certificate.
This regulation aims to ensure the professional competence of engineering practitioners in Oman, reinforcing quality standards and aligning with national workforce development goals.
