KHASAB: The Royal Hospital and Khasab Hospital in Musandam Governorate continue their cooperation with the aim of exchanging medical expertise and providing health services to citizens residing in remote areas as well as enhancing the competence of local staff.

A medical team from the Royal Hospital successfully performed 35 specialised surgeries at Khasab Hospital between May 2024 and May 2025 as part of an integrated medical programme encompassing several development and training phases.

The programme began with a field visit to assess the technical and equipment requisites of Khasab Hospital followed by a training and qualification phase for local medical staff to ensure sustainability of high-quality medical service. In addition, surgical equipment was provided and the operating room was improved to meet international medical standards.

The initiative aims to bring specialised health services closer to citizens in Musandam Governorate, reduce travel and treatment costs for patients and their families, enhance the efficiency of the local hospital and qualify its staff to handle specialised cases and establish the principles of health equity and decentralisation in the provision of healthcare services.

This cooperation comes within the framework of the Ministry of Health’s strategy to integrate healthcare institutions and develop joint work between referral and peripheral hospitals.
