Muscat: The Middle East Leadership Association (MELA), the region’s premier leadership development network with members spanning industries, cultures and borders, celebrated 15 years of fostering transformational leadership last week. Held under the auspices of Her Highness Sayyidah Dr Mona bint Fahd al Said, Assistant Vice-Chancellor for International Cooperation at SQU, the celebration included MELA’s 15th Leadership Masterclass and a Partners’ Dinner, bringing together the individuals and organisations who have sustained and grown the MELA vision since its founding in 2010.
Titled ‘Celebrating Our Partners: The Driving Force Behind MELA’s Success,’ this year’s Leadership Masterclass — a transformational 10-day programme for 27 distinguished leaders — was made possible with the support of dedicated partners from Oman, such as Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), Omran, Al Sorat Consulting and LITT Investment, as well as SIGMA Paints from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Built on a powerful network of trust, collaboration and impact, MELA has served as a catalyst for over 400 leaders from the Middle East and North Africa; and more than 2,000 leaders globally. The Partners’ Dinner honoured those whose leadership and generosity have fuelled MELA’s growth, beginning with an address by Shaikh Hassan al Kabbani, Chairman of the MELA Board and CEO of IKK Group of Companies.
Speaking at the event, Dr Hisham al Siyabi, PDO Gas Director, highlighted the significance of the MELA/PDO alliance, underlining its contribution to industry leadership and capacity building in Oman. He praised PDO’s decision to associate with the MELA Masterclass. Continuing the evening’s theme of partnership, Dr Meda Al Rowas, co-founder of Al Sorat Consulting, emphasised that trust is the cornerstone of advancing leadership development and strengthening international relations.
“Our engagement with MELA has grown over the past few years and we see great alignment between our values and the MELA network. We see a bright future ahead,” she said.
