Seventeen homes in the Wilayat of Barka will soon be powered by independent solar energy systems, each with a capacity of 8 kilowatts, directly contributing to lower electricity bills for beneficiary families and promoting the use of renewable energy within the local community.
An introductory meeting to highlight the Solar Energy Project for Healthy Villages was recently convened by Nama Electricity Distribution Company in Barka.
The meeting, held at the office of Sayyid Tariq bin Mahmoud al Busaidy, Wali of Barka, featured a comprehensive presentation by a team of engineers on the project’s objectives and mechanisms.
Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Sayyid Tariq bin Mahmoud al Busaidy described the initiative as a major step towards promoting clean energy, aligning with Oman Vision 2040 and the national net-zero goals.
Project details, implementation mechanisms; and expected economic and environmental benefits were discussed at the gathering, which was attended by government officials, community leaders and members of the Municipal Council.
Management representatives and engineers from Nama Electricity Distribution Company and Al Forsan Al Asrah Company were also present.
The project is part of Nama Electricity Distribution’s broader efforts to adopt sustainable solutions and strengthen community partnerships. Completion is targeted for the fourth quarter of 2025.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the company reaffirmed its commitment to advancing clean energy initiatives, serving citizens and society; and supporting the national transition to sustainable energy sources.
