The Asian and International Tennis Federation Under-14 Championships, organised by the Oman Tennis Association (OTA) over the past several days, come to an end on Thursday. The event featured two tournaments for international ranking points and saw participation from 13 countries competing over 10 days to accumulate ranking points. The closing ceremony will be held under the auspices of OTA Chairman Moatasem bin Hamoud al Zadjali.
The tournament was characterised by excellent organisation and intense competition among players. The Omani national women’s team performed admirably, with Arin al Azqawi securing third place in the first tournament, though she was unable to compete in the second.
The singles boys’ final will take place today at 2:30 pm, featuring a match between Syria’s Mohammed Aya and Iraq’s Hassan Ali Hatim for the title. Mohammed Aya advanced to the final after defeating Saudi Arabia’s Ahmed Bahaa 6-1, 6-1, while Hassan Ali Hatim qualified by overcoming Yemen’s Mohammed al Awadhi 6-4, 6-0.

In the singles girls’ category, Jovsina from Kyrgyzstan advanced to the final after defeating Oman’s Talia al Busaidy 6-0, 6-1. Sara Maizeva also reached the final by beating Lebanon’s Lina Samad 6-2, 6-3.
The Kyrgyzstan girls’ doubles team secured the doubles title, with players Ivua and Sara defeating the Lebanese duo of Lina Samad and Lama Naaman 6-2, 6-4.
Ahmed al Balushi, the tournament director, praised the success of the event, highlighting the positive feedback received from participating delegations and the tournament’s head referee. “The organisation met all the required standards for hosting tournaments of this level for junior categories,” he said.
Al Balushi also emphasised the commitment of the Oman Tennis Association’s board of directors to ensuring the tournament was conducted in an ideal manner.
He added, “the participation was excellent, benefiting both players and organisers. This was my first experience as a tournament director and I am grateful for the success we achieved as a team in delivering a well-organized and enjoyable event. Today marks the conclusion of ten days of thrilling and exciting competition. We wish all participants success and hope they gained valuable technical experience and ranking points.”
