Oman, Republic of Nauru explore opportunities for cooperation in various fields

Muscat: Sayyid Badr Hamad al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, on Sunday received David Ranibok Adeang, President of the Republic of Nauru, at the General Diwan of the Foreign Ministry in Muscat. The meeting took place within the context of President Adeang’s visit to the Sultanate of Oman to participate in the International Forum of Sovereign Wealth Funds (IFSWF).


The meeting explored ways of enhancing diplomatic relations and economic cooperation. The two sides looked into opportunities for upgrading commercial communication and establishing bilateral and multilateral partnerships that could generate benefits for both countries, notably in the sectors of tourism, mining, energy and fisheries.


The two sides also underlined the importance of exchanging expertise on protecting the environment and oceans in manner that preserves natural resources. They also discussed ways of addressing climate change.


The meeting was attended by Delvin Thoma, Deputy Minister for Deep Sea-Bed Mining, and other officials from the two countries.
