SEOUL: Seoul is set to host the 10th Anniversary of the HWPL World Peace Summit on September 18, with events simultaneously occurring in 122 countries around the world. This year's summit, themed 'Creating a World Peace Community Through Regional Collaboration,' marks a decade of global leaders and citizens committing to the cause of peace while looking ahead to future strategies for promoting global harmony.

According to the Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL), the purpose of this anniversary is to reflect on the progress made since the summit's inception in 2014 and to chart a course for future initiatives. The event will bring together regional talents and establish networks critical for implementing peace strategies tailored to specific local needs. By strengthening regional collaboration, the summit aims to address local threats to peace and leverage collective capacities for global benefit. Various sessions will be held in each participating country, engaging stakeholders at multiple levels.

Under the slogan 'Let’s have everyone become a messenger of peace,' HWPL emphasises the importance of individual responsibility in fostering peace. The organisation plans to collect messages of peace from people worldwide, revealing them at the summit to symbolise the global desire for unity and harmony.

HWPL, an international peace organisation, first convened the World Peace Summit in Seoul in 2014, bringing together over a thousand global leaders from politics, religion, women's groups, youth organisations, and the media, representing about 140 countries. The inaugural summit addressed conflict resolution, religious harmony, and the implementation of legal instruments to ensure lasting peace.

During the 9th anniversary in 2023, HWPL Chairman Lee Man-hee emphasised the need for peace to transcend mere words. “Why should the lives of young people be sacrificed in war? What is politics, and for whom is it for? When war breaks out, it is young people who are sacrificed. Peace cannot be achieved through words alone. If peace had won in this world, there would have been no regrettable deaths. We must leave peace as a legacy to the global community where our descendants will live,” he stated.

Over the past decade, guided by agreements signed during the 2014 summit, HWPL and its global partners have worked to address pressing global challenges such as military tensions, economic disputes, climate change, and cyber security threats through enhanced regional cooperation and collective action. HWPL remains dedicated to establishing a robust peace governance framework, connecting international organisations, governments, and civil societies in the shared pursuit of a peaceful world.
