SALALAH: The 23rd Summer Scout Camp for Girl Guides and Advanced Scouts began on Friday in Jabal Ashur Plain, Dhofar Governorate, under the slogan ‘Our Environment: Diversity and Sustainability’. The camp is organised by the General Directorate of Scouts and Girl Guides at the Ministry of Education and will run for 9 days.

A total of 231 female guides and advanced scouts from Oman and Kuwait are participating in the camp’s activities. The programme includes a variety of workshops, dialogue sessions, group, and individual sports activities, and visits to tourist and heritage sites in Dhofar.

Thuraya bint Adnan Al Hataliyah, the camp’s general leader, highlighted the camp's goals: “The camp aims to develop a positive attitude among the guides towards various skills and to activate the goals of the ‘Oman 2040’ vision for a society proud of its identity, citizenship, and culture while instilling religious values, ethics, and awareness.”

The camp will also feature activities that focus on the religious, sports, social, and national development of the participants, in collaboration with relevant governmental and private bodies. - ONA
