Muscat: As rains continue to lash in Dhofar after the dry spell, Al Wusta is being added to the list with chance of thundershowers with heavy rain and with downdraft.
Salalah had already received 26 mm, Rakhyout 21 mm and Dalkout recorded 10mm on May 2.
The northern governorates are just coming out of a weather system during April 28 and 29 that had brought rainfall that saw Samayil receive 37mm, Rustaq 23 mm, Nakhal 15 mm, Quriyat 10 mm, Wadi Mawal 7 mm and Amerat 4 mm.
In addition to flowing wadis, another concern has been the strong wind gusts that could lead to road accidents and mishaps.
The National Committee for Emergency Management gave instructions on how to respond if one is caught outdoors during strong wind.
The committee has advised the public to stay away from trees, dilapidated structures and electrical poles.

The latest forecasts and analyses from the National Early Warning Center indicate the continuity of the effect of a trough over the Sultanate of Oman today Thursday and lasts until Saturday with advection and formation of clouds and thundershowers associated with hail and fresh winds and flow of wadis. The severety of the weather condition today is expected over the governorates of Al Buraimi, Al Dhahirah, Al
Dakhiliyah, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Muscat, North Al Sharqiyah, Al Wusta and Dhofar and is expected to last until tomorrow morning.
The trough is expected to continue its effects on Friday and Saturday with chances for rainfall of varying intensity over the governorates of South Al Sharqiyah, Al Wusta, Dhofar, and over Al Hajar mountains and the adjoining ares.
The Civil Aviation Authority advices all to take precaution during rain, wadis flow and the reduction of visibility.
