

AL HAMRA: Misfat Al Abriyeen village in the Wilayat of Al Hamra in the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, has seen a remarkable surge in tourist numbers attracting more than 50,000 local and foreign visitors in the first half of 2024.
As one of the most sought-after tourist destinations in the governorate, Misfat Al Abriyeen offers a unique blend of natural beauty, historical significance, and cultural heritage. This charming village stands out for its diverse attractions, which include stunning landscapes, ancient monuments and traditional architecture.
Among the highlights of Misfat Al Abriyeen are the historic Rogan Castle, built over a millennium ago during the Persian period, and Bayt Al Baytain, a well-preserved 500-year-old building that reflects the village’s rich history. Visitors are also captivated by the Misfat Al Abriyeen Falaj, an intricate irrigation system that has been irrigating the village’s terraced farms for centuries.
The village is also home to six traditional guest houses which cater to the growing number of tourists and enhance the visitor experience. These tourism developments have contributed to Misfat Al Abriyeen’s recognition as one of the World Tourism Organization’s ‘Best Tourist Villages’ in the inaugural edition of the awards in 2021.
