The 4-day-long event, focusing on the theme, “Sustainable Living in an Interconnected Society,” is taking place under the patronage of the Ministry of Energy and minerals, and has been organized by Petroleum Development Oman. The opening witnessed wide participation from local and international sectors, as well as officials from a number of government and private sectors.

In remarks, Eng Salim bin Nasser al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals, stressed that sustainability is the basic foundation for establishing resilient societies. OSW’s agenda is in line with Oman Vision 2040, and also contributes to promoting the growth of the green circular economy, and achieving carbon neutrality by the year 2050.

He added that OSW aims to enable individuals, companies and communities to adopt sustainability practices in daily life, and at the business level, by promoting dialogue and constructive cooperation.

Steve Phimister, Managing Director of PDO, expressed PDO’s great pride in being the main host of OSW for the third year in a row. PDO’s participation confirms its commitment to reducing carbon levels in the energy sector while achieving the maximum possible value for the country, he noted.

The exhibition is expected to receive more than 12,000 participants, while the conference will feature more than 70 speakers from 12 different countries.

On the sidelines of the week, the International Sustainability Resources and Technology Conference (ISRTC), one of the most prominent main events organized by the Oman Environmental Services Holding Company (be’ah), will be held.

Khamis bin Nasser al Shueili, Director General of Shared Services at Oman Oil Marketing Company, said the company operates a number of solar-powered fuelling stations in different parts of Oman.
