To promote, enhance and support the tourism, investment and entertainment aspects, the various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman are witnessing recreational tourism events and forums during summer.
While the tourism sector is an enabling and incubating sector capable of contributing to development with the rest of the concerned sectors, the investment programmes and entertainment projects within the Sultanate of Oman seek to contribute to reducing the gap between internal and external tourism.
One of the events is the Ajwaa Al Ashkharah Forum, which is unique in seeking to develop the concept of tourism and its integration with the cultural and economic aspects through the diversity and comprehensiveness of events, and working to sustain tourism activities and events by preparing permanent sites to host them.
This is in addition to strengthening the bonds of interdependence between societal groups in the governorate through solidarity participation in the forum.
Statistics issued by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism showed that the number of visitors coming to the Sultanate of Oman during the first quarter of this year amounted to about 956,6000 visitors, including 322,4000 visitors from the Gulf countries.
Statistics indicated that the occupancy rate of hotels operating in the Sultanate of Oman during the first quarter of this year reached 38 per cent.
In addition, the Khareef Dhofar season witnesses the launch of the 'Sikka' electronic platform, which is a good tool that serves visitors, as it will allow the provision of easy and reliable rental services, which enhances and facilitates the management of residential units with high efficiency and guarantees the rights of landlords and tenants.
Ahmed bin Mohammed al Ghassani, Director of the Quality Control Department at the General Directorate of Heritage and Tourism in Dhofar Governorate, mentioned that the 'Sikka' digital platform for renting residential units aims to enhance quality standards and simplify registration and licensing procedures to improve services provided to guests during the Khareef Dhofar season.
The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism launched a promotional campaign that will continue until the end of August. The campaign aims to stimulate the local tourism and introduce heritage and tourist sites, and enhance tourism movement there throughout the year.
The campaign includes promoting indoor places such as museums, commercial and entertainment centres, and moderate-temperature places such as Jabal Shams, Al Jabal Al Akhdhar, and the beaches of Al Sharqiyah South Governorate and Al Wusta Governorate.
