Work resumes on Al Batinah Coastal road 1st phase

MUSCAT: Work on the first phase of the Al Batinah Coastal Road has resumed, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology announced on Tuesday.


The project involves completing the unfinished parts of the first phase of the project with a length of 30 km. This includes the paving of 22 km from the remaining work of the first part of the first phase (Barka-Al Suwaiq Port) and paving 8 km from the remaining parts of the second part of the first phase (Sohar Port-Khatmat Malaha), implementing 4 valley bridges and 67 box culverts to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow during rainfall in addition to service roads on both sides of the carriageway.



The project also involves the implementation of the Barka market dual link with a length of 4 km and Al Suwaiq link with a length of 6 km. This is in addition to constructing Al Suwaiq Bridge on the Al Batinah Road. The dual link will spur commercial and economic activities and connect parts of the logistics system between the ports of Barka and Al Suwaiq and Khazaen Economic City and the national roads.


Al Batinah Coastal Road starts from the Wilayat of Barka stretching all the way to Khatmat Malaha in the Wilayat of Shinas with a total length of 244 kilometres. The project was divided into two phases, the first phase includes two parts the first of which extends from the Naseem intersection in the Wilayat of Barka to Al Suwaiq Port with a length of 66 kilometres. The second part starts from the Port of Sohar to Khatmat Malaha with a length of 67 kilometres. The second phase of the project extends from Al Suwaiq Port to Sohar Port with a length of 111 kilometres. — ONA
