

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, represented by the National Centre for Information Safety (Oman National CERT), has launched the ‘Hadatha Cybersecurity Award” in Oman.
The award targets local competencies including individuals, innovators, initiatives, government, and private institutions in the Sultanate of Oman by evaluating the performance and achievements in the field of cybersecurity.
The award aims to achieve the goals of the Oman National CERT, celebrate local achievements and contributions in the field of cybersecurity, as well as raise awareness of the achievements of innovators, institutions, and cybersecurity initiatives in the Sultanate of Oman.
It also aims to contribute to enhancing the Sultanate of Oman’s global indicators in the areas of innovation and cybersecurity.
The objectives of the Innovation in Cybersecurity award include engaging relevant entities and the community in celebrating local capabilities in this field, stimulating the building of a comprehensive cybersecurity ecosystem that includes experts, specialists and relevant entities by connecting efforts and showcasing success stories.
The award includes three main categories: the first is the ‘Individuals Category’ which focuses on innovative initiatives with economic and social returns, including awareness in the field of cybersecurity, academic research, specialised scholarly papers and self-employment projects.
The ‘Establishments’ category highlights the readiness of institutions that upgrade their social responsibility in serving a given axis of the cybersecurity industry programme.
The third category of the award celebrates the accomplishments of startups and SMEs that play a role in the cybersecurity industry by undertaking projects that have an economic return to the Sultanate of Oman. — ONA
