Muscat: In response to the heavy rains lashed over most parts of the Sultanate in the past two days, the Ministry of Education announced on Wednesday that it will delegate decision-making authority to the Educational Directorates in each governorate regarding the operation of schools on Thursday, 18th April.

"After following up with the National Committee for Emergency Management, about the nature of work in schools for tomorrow, it was decided to grant Educational Directorates in each governorate to determine the mechanism of work in the schools for tomorrow, Thursday, 18th April after evaluating the conditions of each school, considering safety of the students is at most priority," a statement from the ministry said.

The heavy rains that have swept across much of the Sultanate over the past two days have tragically resulted in the loss of lives among some pupils.
