Seeking solace amid serene surroundings? Look no further than the picturesque village of Al Alia which a lot of people now refer to as the "Magic of Nature." This idyllic destination promises to captivate your senses and leave an indelible mark on your soul.

Situated in the Wilayat of Al Awabi, at the gateway to Wadi Bani Kharus between Nakhal and Rustaq, Al Alia Village is easily accessible from Muscat, a mere 150 kilometres away. A smooth tarmac road ensures a seamless journey, offering breathtaking views of rugged mountains and lush landscapes along the way.

Al Alia Village boasts a temperate climate, a rarity in Oman, with occasional rainfall even during the peak of summer. A perpetual cool breeze lends a refreshing touch to this oasis of greenery, where verdant lemon, mango, and grape orchards thrive amidst the sandy terrain. The harmonious melody of flowing Aflaj further enhances the allure of this enchanting locale.

The fertile soil and freshwater also provide conducive conditions for guavas, pomegranates, figs, peaches, apricots, olives, garlic, onions, barley, and various types of dates to grow in abundance at this place.

One of the most prominent farms in Al Alia is the ‘Jalab’ farm. In Omani terminology, ‘Jalab’ refers to a small cultivated piece of land. The farm is known for its abundant crop production, characterized by its geometric layout and agricultural terracing. Traditional irrigation methods, using channels within the farm, are employed.

Venture into the heart of the village, and you'll encounter a tapestry of rich history intertwined with natural splendour. From the iconic Jabal Akhdar's slopes adorned with unique farms to archaeological marvels like the Tomb of Sheikh Jaad Bin Khamais Al Kharusi, Al Alya Village offers a glimpse into Oman's storied past. Ancient inscriptions etched into rocks serve as invaluable treasures, shedding light on the region's heritage and captivating the imagination of historians and explorers alike.

Notably, Al Alia serves as a hub for hiking enthusiasts with its ‘Horse Trail,’ marked by tricolour flags, red, yellow, and white, leading to the green mountain.

Access to the village is through a paved road that does not require off-road vehicles. Upon reaching the farms, tourists are encouraged to stop their vehicles and enjoy the breathtaking views.

But it's not just the natural beauty that entices visitors to Al Alya Village; it's the warm hospitality of its people that truly sets it apart. Locals welcome guests with open arms, eager to share a cup of traditional Omani coffee and stories of their heritage.

Before you embark on your journey, here are a few tips to ensure a memorable experience: Any sedan car will suffice for the trip, though four-wheel drive is optional. Respect local customs and traditions by dressing modestly and maintaining decorum. Help preserve the pristine beauty of Al Alya Village by disposing of waste responsibly.

So, whether you're seeking a tranquil retreat or a cultural adventure, Al Alya Village promises an unforgettable escape into the heart of Oman's natural and historical splendour.
