MUSCAT: The Ministry of Labour in a tweet asked companies and businesses to stop excavation and other outdoor work due to heavy rains and winds in several governorates. It urged them to stay updated with official weather alerts and ensure employees are informed.


It also issued several guidelines to save lives of workers and property


1. Secure lightweight equipment in outdoor areas.


2. Ensure the security of lifting equipment and cranes.


3. Advise employees to remain indoors and avoid low-lying areas during adverse weather.


4. Consider postponing non-essential driving and work-related trips.


5. Pause all excavation work until weather conditions improve.


6. Temporarily halt operations in outdoor areas.


8. Ensure proper storage and safety measures for chemicals and hazardous materials.


9. Avoid elevated areas and scaffolding during adverse weather.


10. Warn employees against risky behaviour such as crossing wadis.


11. Share emergency contact numbers with employees in case of any emergency.
