MUSCAT, FEB 13

International hotel chain Minor Hotels has unveiled plans to expand its luxury Anantara brand with a new resort in Bandar Al Khairan, Muscat.

Scheduled to debut in 2026, the luxury property’s addition underscores the burgeoning trend of resort developments in Muscat Governorate, positioning the capital city as a premier destination for leisure and business travelers alike.

Situated along the rugged Omani coast, the forthcoming Anantara resort will offer 121 keys, comprising 51 guest rooms, 46 chalets, and 24 villas. Embracing contemporary luxury amidst a breathtaking natural backdrop, each accommodation unit promises a stylish retreat, with select villas boasting private pools for exclusive relaxation.

Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels, emphasized the intrinsic allure of Oman's coastline, asserting that the upcoming Anantara resort epitomizes the brand's commitment to excellence. Partnering with Musstir, the real estate arm of the MB Holding Company, underscores a shared vision for elevating Oman's hospitality sector, he said.

Safana al Barwani, Managing Director of Musstir, echoed this sentiment, expressing excitement over the strengthened partnership with Minor Hotels. The collaboration seeks to showcase Oman's majestic beauty while inviting global travelers to experience its allure firsthand.

The new Anantara resort in Bandar Al Khairan will offer an array of premium facilities, including infinity swimming pools, a kids' club lounge, and meeting spaces, catering to both leisure and business travelers. With a focus on wellness, the property will feature an Anantara Spa and fitness center, complemented by a private stargazing majlis for unparalleled celestial views.

Notably, this announcement adds to Minor Hotels' robust presence in the Middle East, complementing existing properties in Oman, the UAE, and Qatar. As part of a broader strategy, the company aims to reinforce its foothold in the region, capitalizing on growing demand for luxury accommodations.

The new Anantara property complements a pair of similarly ambitious projects that are poised to reshape Muscat’s landscape, offering sustainable living and luxury amenities. The Sustainable City – Yiti aims to become the region's first net-zero emissions community by 2040. Spanning one million square meters, this project sets out to significantly reduce per capita emissions by 78% compared to conventional housing, showcasing a commitment to environmental sustainability.

Additionally, Dar Global has initiated the construction of AIDA, a prominent urban development in Oman. Collaborating with Qurum Stone Development as the main contractor, AIDA integrates luxury golf, residential, and hospitality components. This joint venture with Omran Group is slated for Phase 1 completion in 2027, offering a unique gated community and golfing destination situated by the sea, 130 meters above sea level. AIDA is designed to blend seamlessly with its natural surroundings, promising an unparalleled living experience.
