“Aoun”, “Kaifan” claim Al Bashayer festival opening

MUSCAT: The 7th edition of Al Bashayer Camel Racing festival kicked off on Monday in the Wilayat of Adam, Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, with the auspices of Dr Mohammed bin Ali Zaabanoot al Mahri, Wali of Adam.The 6 days festival organising by the Al Bashayer Arabian Camel Field Department, supported by His Highness Sayyid Asaad bin Tarik al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs, Personal Representative of His Majesty the Sultan.

As many as 4000 camels competing from February 12 to 17, from various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman and GCC countries, competing in74 rounds in different categories for valuable prizes, 20 cars and 15 icons including the Cups, golden and silver swords.The opening day witnessed 25 rounds, for the ‘Hagayeg’ category,two years old, for 4 km. Nineteen races were in the morning with cash prizes for the top ten.

In the afternoon, there were six main races with car prizes and icons for the winner and cash prizes for the top 10. In the morning competitions, “Zazaah”, snatched the opening round, owned by Humaid al Qanoubi. “Shaheen” won the second round, owned by Sultan al Jahafi. “Shawaheen” finished first in the third round, owned by Amer al Omari. “Shawaheen”,claimed fourth round, owned by Suleiman al Qanoubi. “Murkh” won the fifth round, owned by Said al Mughairy. “Awayed” was the champion in the sixth round, owned by Obaid al Junaibi.“Fiafi” came first in the seventh round, owned by Ghosn al Musallami.

“Zaafran” ranked eighth round, owned by Awad al Wahaibi. “Nasiya” won the ninth round, owned by Ali al Shibli. "Nasi" claimed the tenth round, owned by Abdullah al Wahaibi. "Al Musk" won the eleventh round, owned by Ahmed al Junaibi. "Waqad" snatched the 12th round, owned by Majid al Daree. “Hamloula” grabbed the 13th round, owned by Ali al Wahaibi.“Raddad” was the hero in the 14th round, owned by Yasser al Wahaibi.“Al Shayba” ranked the 15th round, owned by Abdullah al Amri.

Al Muhandis”snatched 16th round, owned by Hamad al Wahaibi. “Al Shahiniya”finished first in 17th round, owned by Salim al Daree. “Najd” won the18th round, owned by Salim al Jabri. “Nouda” concluded morning race,owned by Badr al Mushaifri.In the evening rounds, “Aoun” owned by Royal Camel Corps snatched the Cup and the car, coached by Nasser al Daree. “Kaifan” claimed the rifle and the car, owned by Hamad al Jadaili. “Sama” won the third car, owned by Hamad al Wahaibi.“Luzha” claimed the fourth car, owned by Mohammed al Wahaibi.

Al Faisal grabbed the fifth car, owned by Saif al Wahaibi. “Al Fayezah” ranked the sixth car, owned by Sultan al Habsi.The second day competitions continue for the ‘Lagaya’ category, three years old, for 5 km divided into 15 races in the morning time with cash prize for the top 10. Five main races will start in the afternoon, five cars for the winners and cash prizes up to 10th place.
