SUHAR: The General Directorate of Culture, Sports and Youth in North Al Batinah Governorate recently spearheaded a transformative initiative, the ‘Shabiba’ programme, held at the Lecture Hall of the Sports Complex in Suhar.

This is in alignment with the ambitious goals of Oman Vision 2040.

The two-day event served as a dynamic platform, fostering engagement and learning to equip youth with essential skills required for the evolving job market.

The programme, strategically designed to meet the needs of job seekers, unfolded with a comprehensive agenda aimed at enhancing skills and elevating performance.

The inaugural day focused on ‘Future Skills in the Job Market,’ led by the insightful trainer Siham al Saidiyah. Concurrently, Dr Ali al Manai delved into ‘Performance Development Skills and Personal Growth.’ The second day honed in on ‘Habit Building Skills and Time Management’ with Al Muatasim al Awfi and ‘Continuous Learning Skills’ with Alia al Harithiyah.

Al Muatasim al Awfi, lecturer, Engineering Department at Sohar University of Technology and Applied Sciences, underscored the significance of ‘Shabiba’ in motivating job seekers to align their skills with current market demands.

His workshop on cultivating positive habits aimed to equip individuals with the tools to construct a fulfilling life system and identify and overcome negative habits across short, medium, and long-term horizons.

Saham al Saidiyah, a coach in personal and institutional development, emphasised the programme’s ambition to intellectually develop job seekers. She provided valuable insights into future skills demanded globally, drawing on reports from esteemed institutions such as the World Economic Forum and the McKinsey Global Institute.

The programme’s framework acted as a positive catalyst, encouraging participants to arm themselves with the skills necessary for a promising professional future.

Alia al Harithiyah, Head of the Software Development Unit in the Information Technology Department at Sohar University of Technology and Applied Sciences, expressed gratitude for her involvement in the programme.

She stressed the importance of commitment to continuous learning beyond academic certifications and discussed the skills and tools necessary for acquiring such competencies.
